*Bonus* TurboTax Giveaway

Kelly Phillips ErbFebruary 18, 2011

(Editor’s Note:  We have a winner from among our FB fans and reader comments below!  Congrats Lynda!)

As it turns out, I have one more TurboTax software package to give away since one of our winners has graciously offered to return his prize (he’s already done his taxes – smart guy!). Since it’s Friday and the weather is beautiful here in Philly, I’m feeling generous, so I’m going to make this easy for my readers… Today’s giveaway will be a refund meme. All you have to do to enter is answer this question:

Assuming that you received a nice refund, what would be the first thing you’d do/buy?

Same rules apply. Here’s a refresher:

  • Post your answer in the comments section below or on the taxgirl fanpage on Facebook. I love my Twitter followers (muah!) but for this particular giveaway, tweets will not be counted.
  • For purposes of the giveaway, your comment must be entered (even if it doesn’t show up) by the end of the weekend, Sunday, February 20, 11:59 p.m. EST.
  • Don’t panic if your comment doesn’t show immediately. If it goes to moderation because, for example, you’re new here, the time stamp on your comment is what counts.
  • Enter as many times as you’d like but you must leave a different comment each time. My normal comment policy applies. I have standards, you know.
  • You must leave a valid email address (it will not be made public) with your comment so that I can contact you if you are a winner.
  • I’ll choose ONE winner at random using a random number generator.
  • Pingbacks and trackbacks, while appreciated, won’t count for purposes of the giveaway.
  • One winner per tax season. Feel free to post a comment if you’ve already won but only one free software package per person – let’s spread the love around.
  • And I won’t disqualify you if you say that you’ll buy a Justin Bieber CD but I may read your comment with contempt. You’ve been warned.

Let’s get started!

Any $ that came my way from a refund would go towards my furniture fund! We just moved in December and I desperately need a new sofa.

I should say that I’d invest in right back into something that would produce more income. But it would probably go to help fund my traveling.

All my extra money is going toward wedding expenses this year. If I get a good refund, I’ll be able to afford this dress: http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=J1400

If I had a good refund… I would use it on a computer upgrade for work purposes (I’m a programmer), which will be deductible next year. :-X

With this awesome refund (got all my paperwork ready! just need software) I would throw it into my savings account like I do every year.

I would like to use my refund to pay off my student loan. There would be some interest to deduct for next year’s taxes, not much, but less debt is always positive.

Now my husband would like to use our refund to buy or pay a down payment for a motorcycle! I may have to let him for my own sanity…

Honestly, I’d probably just put it back into my business. (I make lingerie.) It’s a new business, so it’s sort of eating through money right now.

If I got a refund, I’d put it into my savings account for my Mini Cooper. I’ve already got her named, but I’m nowhere near buying her yet :).

Plane tickets to Ethiopia. We just received the court date for our adoption of two amazing older children (12 & 13) and it’s time to fly to Ethiopia to make them forever ours.

My refund would go to; my Favorite 501c Charitable Organization (past the allowable deduction next year) and to help support an Elder who is way behind on her Mortgage. Sometimes the Heart has to override the economically sound actions.

I sure hope I win, I need help with my taxes, but if I would get a refund, it would go to next years taxes. The government may say there is no inflation, but if you are on a fixed income, too many price increases in basic needs keep squeezing that dollar.

After a year full of medical issues, I would use the money to go back to my hometown, visit friends and relatives, relax and be grateful that the medical issues are for the time being over with!!!
