I’m taking a few hours away from my normal tax reporting to get my house in order – my virtual house, that is.
I trademarked taxgirl after years (and years) of use and it is now protected.
Despite this fact, there are folks flitting here and there using taxgirl as an identifier and even writing tax-related blogs using the brand. I don’t want to be militant about the usage but the law requires that I protect my trademark in order to keep it so if I see it (and trust me, my readers often let me know), I will ask someone to take a similar site down. As a result, as happened recently, I get nasty email about it, complaining that I am somehow being mean. I’m not mean. I am just working hard to protect my name and my work.
I rarely post about this sort of thing but as the site has grown more popular, this is something that I’ve become increasingly aware of – some of it not by choice. So I thought I would take the opportunity to let you know that if you’re ever notquite sure whether a “taxgirl” out there is me – just ask (you can email me by clicking [email] in the sidebar). You can also find some general guidelines here.
And as always, thanks for reading!
You go girl. I would of thought you did this years ago but at least you “gitter done”
